Sonoma Day 2: Worth the Wait

For brunch we decided on the Fremont Diner despite the 40 minute wait. We were there with our friends Amelia and Dalia Ceja of Ceja Vineyards. Dalia had raved about this place and we couldn't wait to try it. I could tell she felt bad about the wait but we were determined! The meal was totally worth it...I'm glad we didn't venture anywhere else out of desperation. This farm to table experience was so amazingly satisfying...we enjoyed the deviled eggs with pickled mustard seeds (my friends make fun of me for ordering deviled eggs...I LOVE deviled eggs...we ordered 2 plates), the chili con carne, brussels sprouts (a table favorite) and our entrees. Jason and Amelia ordered the Nashville Chicken which according to the menu is "so spicy it'l set a cheatin' man straight." I devoured the oyster po'boy and Dalia had the catfish...no leftovers from us! We washed it down with a creamy vanilla milkshake. I'll never forget the silence that came over us as soon as we got our food...a sign of a great meal.

Should you stop by and run into a long wait like us, don't fret. Amelia suggested we go back to the their tasting room and sip some vino to pass the time. Genius. However, for the record, we stayed put and sent Dalia down the street to pick up a bottle for us to enjoy with our meal :) So if you want to make the most out of your wait, head down the street (0.2 mi) to the recently opened Ceja Tasting Room for wine (I'm a fan of their bubbles & pinot & chardonnay) or if you're sick of wine, pick up a brew just a few feet away at their Carneros Brewing company...there's something for everyone!

To wrap up our trip we finally stopped by a winery for a proper tasting, Ram's Gate. It's very convenient whether you're coming or going from SF...you drive right by it. The grounds were gorgeous and the tasting room was spacious yet cozy and dog friendly...so many cute pups at every turn!

Next visit...more wineries and vineyards!
