Mariecar: Food enthusiast & wine lover with a passion for photography. Former New Yorker. SF based.
I'm a former morning show producer (TODAY, CBS This Morning and Good Morning America) but if you really get to know me, I'm more night owl (cocktail please!) than morning person (I don't drink coffee). I consider myself outdoorsy as in I like to sip wine outdoors on patios as pictured :) I'm also a lover of ranch dressing, deviled eggs and red velvet cupcakes.
Back to why I'm here...I LOVE food. I believe every dish tells a story which is why I've been taking photos of my food for years. I use them as a reference guide of sorts and inspiration for future meals. Almost every meal I savor, I snap...much to the chagrin of my hungry (sometimes hangry) nearest and dearest who know to wait until after I take my pics before digging in.
This blog is as much about my culinary cravings as it is about my travels. I believe the best way to discover a new place is through its food. Born and raised in Saudi Arabia until I was 10 years old, every summer was spent traveling somewhere and lucky for me the adventures haven't stopped! This year we'll cover Australia, New Zealand, Thailand and the Philippines among other exciting locales. In the meantime I'm savoring everything about SF. I've just arrived and can't wait to eat my way through every neighborhood.
Thanks for stopping by :)

I love cooking. More than cooking… I love hosting. I could create a reason to celebrate every day of the week if you let me. I don’t believe there’s anything more fulfilling than spending time laughing with friends while enjoying delicious food and unlimited wine. I mean wine is a food group, right?! From awards shows, to season finales, and birthdays, and just plain ole dance parties with your girlfriends – I hope to add a fun twist to Savor and Snap that includes one-of-a-kind recipes and crafty entertaining ideas!
Born and raised in the south, it was tradition for southern mothers to pull out all the stops when hosting. I can’t remember a time when my house wasn’t the “hub” for every special occasion in our family. My mom is the best cook in our family, and she passed along all of her mouthwatering recipes, hosting tricks, and clean-up tips! I hope you enjoy my journey as I explore some of my mother’s old faithful recipes, try my hand at some new hits, and sip some amazing wine along the way.
Cheers to the NYC contributions of S&S!
