I am a sucker for sangria. At my bridal shower last year, my friend Dylan made a dangerously delicious (i.e.: strong!) sangria that turned my shower into a bachelorette party of 1. Several hours after the shower ended, her sangria kept the party going...in me...just me...with my friend Sam (bridal shower host) watching in horror, amazement and wonder. I'll spare you the photos but there is one where I look passed out in my party dress, on the couch, midway through eating a slice of pizza. I swear I just closed my eyes for a second #classy ...Despana's sangria reminds me of those good ole days!
It's called Victoria's Secret Sangria recipe and lucky for me (and you) Victoria was there that day. Naturally I stalked her until she let me in on the secret. Turns out the secret is...no measurements! Just a lot of love and the following ingredients:
Red wine (She used Tempranillo or Rose of Tempranillo)
Brandy from Spain (She said something about salero aged maple brandy)
Orange Liquor (like Cointreau)
Triple Sec
Kas Orange Soda (or citrus soda for bubbles)
Sugar
It's magical! And good for up to 2-3 days in the fridge. Victoria also adds fruits last minute (apples, oranges, etc)
Moving onto savory, order the chorizo picante bocadillo. After Jason's last bite, he exclaimed "that made me really happy!!!" Flavor: perfectly balanced, not too much cheese, the chorizo was nice and spicy with subtle peppers. Not too much aoli and the tomato tasted perfect with chorizo! This from someone who hates tomatoes in his sammiches and mayo or aoli in anything... success!
Despana, I'm back in NYC tomorrow...see you soon!!!
