Rose, all day! I think we’ve established that I’m a bit of a wino. On my most recent trip to Napa, I bought every bottle I tasted at one winery which shows you just how excited I get about wine! So I was stoked (do people still say stoked? I mean...you get me right?) to try British Columbia Wines, specifically Rose, on my recent trip to Vancouver, Canada. The wines really surprised me! Both in flavor profile and cost, I was able to buy my favorites for less than $20 a bottle! My favorite souvenir from any trip is wine, here's my haul...
From L to R:
Sipped at Cardero’s in Coal Harbour - 2015 Mission Hill Rose: Jason called it candy and loved it too. If you want to get technical think watermelon, wild strawberries, jasmine and pomegranate! It paired well with my avocado, tomato, and ahi albacore tuna salad. YUMMO!
Sipped at Urban Winery - 2014 Merlot: I did the Somm tasting, loved the merlot and left with the bottle! The Urban Winery is such a cool spot, great vibe for a date night. The hubby and I shared chocolate lava cake, which paired perfectly with all the reds in the somm tasting!
Sipped at Westin Bayshore Happy Hour - 2015 Quails Gate Rose: Berries and melons. Deliciously refreshing and also tastes like candy but not overly sweet. Another highlight of HH, the live music!
Not pictured in the haul but pictured below...Sipped at Alibi Room - Lock & Worth Cab Franc Rose: Dry and perfectly smooth. The bartender buys this bottle from Alibi all the time bc she can't find it anywhere else, it's her fave! It pleased both our palates. I didn’t come home with a bottle because I couldn’t find it...should’ve bought it from Alibi like the bartender!
Side note, if you're looking for hipsters or dudes w/ beards this is your place. On the edge of Gastown, it felt like a cross between SF’s Soma and the Mission, inside I was transported to Brooklyn. Go for boutique wines, creative cocktails, and the 50 craft beers (local & imported) on tap! Also, the fries made this meal one of our favorites.
