I love nothing more than sleeping in on a Sunday…waking up and heading to a boozy brunch!
I had the pleasure of brunching at the Greenwich Project…such a gem of a place!
In case you don't read further let the take away be this - ORDER THE BEIGNETS!
My girlfriend asked if I wanted to share...I said sure...I mean who am I to turn down fried dough? I seriously only planned to indulge in 1 but couldn't help myself and well...3 beignets later I was as fluffy as the pancakes next to me! It was perfection...each bite of its sweet buttery middle just melted in my mouth!
I may have overdone it with the beignets...though honestly I remember seeing one left in the basket...what I regret is not eating that last one in the basket.
It wasn't as boozy as I had planned...one kale cocktail in and I was done. After all, I should be training for my half marathon not champion beignet eater.
Other highlights...the lemon ricotta pancakes...super fluffy!!! And the truffle egg salad. They had me at "truffle" - I could only finish half because one can only eat so much egg salad so I asked them to pack it but I actually forgot it when we left. I realized this when we were throwing snowballs and making snow angels nearby...and so I went to the trouble of walking back and retrieving my leftovers. Yes, it was that good.
Beyond the food, the group I was with was delightful! I only really knew my friend Roxy but after discussing whether THAT dress was blue and black or white and gold and shopping at Goodwill (they had black Louboutins in a sz 7.5 ya'll)...we pretty much all bonded. I love those surprises that come with Sunday brunch!
