Brooklyn, NY: Fancy Fried Chicken!!!

We're back in the same hood as last post...just a few blocks in the other direction. After another shoot in Clinton Hill/Bed-Stuy, S&S Contributor Krystle Champagne and I headed to Marietta for a taste of the south.

We started with the Grilled Broccoli: Charred squid, Mushrooms, Smoked Cod Roe, Bonito Flakes. This was our attempt at being healthy. it basically went like this...Krystle ate all the broccoli and I ate the rest of everything else, yummo!

We seemed to wait forever for our entrees but were distracted with Marietta's expertly crafted cocktails...

Mine: Part Time Lover ~ Tequila, Amaro Montenegro, Honey and Lemon.

Hers: The Marietta ~ Bourbon, Nardini Bitter and an Orange Twist

Krystle: The Marietta was so smooth I could have tons more! Highly recommend for bourbon lovers.

So what she really means is that it was soooo smooth she could have had 4 more (I asked). Now you have to imagine Krystle...very sweet...very petite...and recently really into bourbon and whisky surprising bartenders everywhere she goes!

For our entrees I was feeling fancy (aka starving) so I ordered the Fancy Fried Chicken - Amazeballs!!! Krystle had the Marietta Burger: Smoked Short Rib, Ribeye and Sirloin Blend...yes, yes and YES!

Krystle: The fried chicken was surprisingly light. The brine is making the chicken glisten. (Krystle says this is too inside baseball...but who doesn't want their chicken to glisten?!)

As for myself, this is the burger best I've had in a loooong time! High quality meat. There was also so much butter in the bun I couldn't get enough. Because as everyone knows, butter makes it better!!!

Krystle: Oh that burger was sooooo tender and juicy! I loved the combination of meat they used. I mean it's not the best burger I've ever had but I would highly recommend it!

Marietta, you are a true gem! Thank you Victoria of Oratory Laboratory for another great suggestion...jealous of all your neighborhood grub!
