Bangkok Day 1: Chatuchak Market, Mango Sticky Rice & Massages

Savor and Snap Asia edition is on fire!!! Literally. So many times I've bit into a dish and it's so spicy leaving my tongue burning but my tummy wanting more! To the point where my nose is running but man it is SO worth it. I was in Bangkok for the first time a year ago but didn't have time to explore...this visit made up for all the moments I missed.

Chatuchak Weekend Market: SPICY Chicken Larb & Som Tam (Papaya Salad) = my favorite Thai pairing!

Chatuchak Weekend Market: SPICY Chicken Larb & Som Tam (Papaya Salad) = my favorite Thai pairing!

I'm back because my favorites Hannie (friends since 6th grade) and Arlene are getting married Thai style (as in a Thai ceremony) you don't wanna miss that post!

My Bangkok breakdown: Street food at 2am, markets and malls, massages, mini bars, rooftops, tuk tuks and lady boys. Among the highlights...Chatuchak market, check us out:

Below are some other highlights from our first day here. My only regret is that we didn't make it to any of the floating markets. This should be considered a Savor and Snap sin but really it's just another reason to come back soon :)

When we landed in Bangkok we headed straight to street food in Silom...this was around 2am. I tasted the most yummo mango and sticky rice and tried a variety of whatever everyone else ordered. All of it was amazing (some of us would say the best meal we had in Bangkok) and no one got sick from this meal. Success!

In the morning we headed to Chatuchak Market (see video above) where they have everything you could possibly want for a souvenir and more cheap tasty treats!

We also drank out of fresh coconuts for a $1. I once paid $20 to drink out of a coconut at the W pool in Miami...never again!!!!

Sore and tired we headed to Health Land a few blocks from our hotel for the best foot massage...foot massage here means legs, arms, head and shoulders...1 hour of bliss for $10!

We wrapped the day dining at Naj restaurant in Silom (a far departure from street food where the mango sticky rice was not as yummo as the night before), drinking at Lebua Sky Bar (where they filmed the Hangover) and riding in a Tuk Tuk which is basically a bike with wheels carrying us 4 ladies.

The tuk-tuk shook like it was going to break apart at any moment...what a thrill!!! More to come :)
