I am fresh off a west coast trip (SF & LA) and there are lots of foodie adventures to share…I’ll start with sunny Santa Monica where I had the privilege of staying at the Casa Del Mar, I would go back in a heartbeat! If I had my way I would move in…I am really over this whole ice skate to work in the snow phase of NYC Winter…
Back to memories of sunshine and oysters…once I touched down in LA from SF, my friend Bigad took me to dinner at Blue Plate Oysterette. Ocean breeze + Fresh Seafood = Me > Happy as a Clam! The entire time I was in San Francisco I had been craving oysters but I was so busy eating everything else in sight that I never got to it so I was excited!!!
We started with the grilled oysters, they’re up there with Drago's in New Orleans! For my meal I ordered the raw bar combo for one - 2 oysters, ceviche, prawn cocktail, clams…I mean...seafood heaven!!! My only complaint is that it came with 1 shrimp...just 1...such a tease!
My meal in one word: Satisfying
Bigad ordered the lobster roll with french fries. I immediately added a side of ranch dressing to his order because my favorite thing to order any chance I get is french fries with ranch. And folks, they not only excel at seafood, their ranch was a little slice of heaven as well…buttermilk perhaps? At any rate I would gladly bottle it up and take it back with me to NYC.
Bigad's meal in one word: Hearty
I am not one to turn down dessert because there is ALWAYS room for it but after eating my way through the Bay for days and days I just had absolutely no room. But I want to come back for their key lime pie. The waitress said it's the best in all of LA. Bold statement. Next visit, I'll be the judge!
